Many physician and medical groups oppose payment cure Congressional efforts to forestall pay cuts for physicians are making a lot of them unhappy. The American Medical Association was urging its members to contact House lawmakers to oppose a Medicare "doc fix" bill, set for vote on Thursday. The AMA said another temporary pay patch—the 17th—would make it more difficult to find a permanent solution to the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. Doctors face a 24 percent cut in Medicare payments April 1.
